Lusatian Nature

The exhibition “Animals and plants of Upper Lusatia” portrays the variety of the animals and plants occurring in our region.  It is based on the three large geographical regions of the area: the “heath and pond landscape” in the north, the Gefildezone with the hill country in the middle and the mountain country (Lausatian mountain country and Zittauer mountains) in the south. All three regions differ strongly in their geological and geographical characteristics and, accordingly, completely different animal and plant societies can be found in these three areas.
