Information for People with Disabilities

The museum building is wheelchair-accessible and has an elevator. Wheelchairs are available for free rental. The accessible restroom is accessible via the elevator.

Three accessible parking spaces are located across from the museum’s main entrance, at Marienplatz/Elisabethstraße (30 m) (directions here). From there, the museum is accessible without barriers.

Information for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired

The Görlitz Natural History Museum offers blind and visually impaired visitors the opportunity to take a personalized tour of the museum. A free audio guide system leads them to selected stations in the permanent exhibitions where, for example, casts of entire animals, skulls, or hides can be touched. Once there, audio descriptions of the objects begin automatically. For visitors using a white cane, the exhibitions are also accessible via a tactile floor guidance system.

These inclusion initiatives were funded through the Görlitz district’s “Barrier-Free Construction – Favorite Places for Everyone” program and the Leibniz Association’s Action Plan II, “A World in Motion.”
