Lusatian Earth History

Dive into the adventure of the Lusatian rocks - they have many stories to tell!

In this exhibition, the geological regions of Upper Lusatia are presented.:  the Lusatian Greywacke, which contains the oldest rocks of Upper Lusatia, and is one of the largest continuous granite massifs in Central Europe,; the Goerlitz slate range, with the first large fossils of Central Europe; as well as the Upper Lusatian brown coal basin with numerous fossil plants.

The floor is arranged as a geological map and leads the exhibition. Visual focal points are presented by large animal models, such as a prehistoric trunk animal, original geological profiles made of coal or a stone column of Lusatian rocks.
